Persistent mid-level shear over the eastern Pacific Ocean has caused Pilar’s mid-level circulation to decouple from the low-level circulation. Although Pilar is moving over a warm sea surface, shear and dry mid-level air will prevent further convective development over the next few days. Thus, Pilar has degenerated into a remnant low and is not expected to regenerate as it continues to drift northwestward over the open waters of the eastern Pacific.
