Molokaʻi Flood Advisory Until 7:45 a.m., Friday, Nov. 18

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the island of Molokaʻi until 7:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022 due to flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
At 4:32 a.m., radar showed heavy rain had redeveloped over the eastern third of Molokaʻi. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour. The NWS says some locations that will experience flooding include: Pūkoʻo, ʻUalapuʻe, Hālawa Valley, Kamalo, Kalaupapa National Park and Kawela.
The public is reminded to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 7:45 a.m. if flooding persists.
Update: 9:02 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the island of Molokaʻi until 12:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.
At 9:02 p.m. on Thursday, radar indicated heavy rain over the eastern third of Molokaʻi. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 to 4 inches per hour.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: ʻUalapuʻe, Pūkoʻo, Kamalo, Hālawa Valley, Kalaupapa National Park and Kawela.
The public is advised to be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry. Motorists and pedestrians are reminded: Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.
Update: 7:07 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the island of Maui until 10:15 p.m.
At 7:06 p.m. radar showed heavy rain over windward portions of east Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 to 4 inches per hour.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Kīpahulu, Nāhiku, Hāna, Kaupō, Keʻanae, Haleakalā National Park, Wailua and Hāmoa.
The public is advised to be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. The NWS advises that the heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas. The public is reminded to stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches and culverts, even if they are currently dry.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. “Turn around, don’t drown.”

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the island of Maui until 8:30 p.m.
At 5:20 p.m., radar showed heavy rain between Kīpahulu and Hāmoa in East Maui, and areas upslope. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
The NWS says some locations that will experience flooding include: Kīpahulu, Kaupō, Hāmoa and portions of Highway 360.
The public is reminded to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Motorists and pedestrians should not cross fast flowing or rising water in a vehicle, or on. foot. “Turn around, don’t drown,” the agency says.
